Pricing
How your car shipping price is built.

What sets the price
Six things that move your price.
- 01
Road miles
The road distance between your two ZIPs. A longer move costs more overall and less per mile.
- 02
Lane demand this week
How many trucks run your lane against how many cars are waiting. Plenty of trucks keeps the price down, and a quiet lane costs more to fill.
- 03
Size and weight of the vehicle
A full-size pickup or large SUV takes up more of the trailer, in space and weight, than a sedan.
- 04
Whether it runs
A car that does not run needs a carrier with a winch, so say so when you price it and the cost is included. A car booked as running that turns out not to run adds $150, paid at delivery.
- 05
Open or enclosed
An enclosed trailer holds fewer cars, so each pays a bigger share. Your price screen shows both.
- 06
The season
Snowbirds fill the southbound lanes from October to December and the northbound lanes from March to May. In those months, a flexible first pickup day helps most.
Open or enclosed
Two ways to move a car, both priced on your screen.
You choose after you see the price. Most cars go open. Some should not.

Open carrier
Most carsThe two-level trailer you pass on the interstate. It carries cars on two levels, each strapped down by the wheels and riding in the open air, as it would on the highway.
- Costs less, and more trucks on every lane mean a sooner pickup
- Right for daily drivers, SUVs, pickups and most used cars
- Arrives with road dust that one wash takes off

Enclosed carrier
Classic, luxury, lowA covered trailer that carries fewer cars and loads them by lift gate or low ramps. Weather, road grit and passing eyes stay outside.
- The usual choice for classics, exotics and cars that sit low
- Fewer trucks, so assigning a carrier can take a day or two longer
- Costs more, and the price screen shows both side by side
Sample figures

Priced by a coordinator
Instant prices cover road moves for cars in the lower 48. For these, a coordinator checks the trailer, route or sailing and emails you a price.
When you pay
- When you book
- Your card is saved, with nothing charged.
- After a carrier is assigned
- The Reservation is charged to that card, once the carrier's details are on your order page.
- At delivery
- The COD to Carrier is paid to the driver in cash, certified funds, a cashier's check or a money order.
Options at booking
- Guaranteed pickup date, $200. The carrier picks up on the pickup date you choose, or the $200 goes back on your card. It covers pickup, not delivery.
- Expedited dispatch, $350. Your car reaches carriers first, at a higher rate, so one takes it sooner. It is added to the COD to Carrier, and dates stay estimates.

Snowbird season
Book the car south before the snowbird rush.
October to December is the busiest stretch on the lanes from the North to Florida, Arizona and Texas. Carriers on these lanes fill up early. A flexible first pickup day tends to mean an earlier truck and a better price.
Questions
Questions about the price.
More in the help center.
Why is my price a range?
Because the lane has too little recent carrier data for one number we would stand behind, and the price screen says so. Busy lanes show a single price.
Are the figures on this page my price?
No. They are estimator samples for a running sedan, there to show how distance moves the price. Your own price comes from real carrier data on your lane for your car, and takes about a minute to get.
Can the price change after I book?
The agreement names what can be added. A car booked as running that does not run at pickup, or stops running in transit, adds $150, paid at delivery. A car not ready at pickup adds $100 to reschedule. Cancelling within 7 days before or after the scheduled pickup carries a minimum $200 fee. A car that leaks fluids or has loose parts can face extra fees or be refused.
Does a flexible pickup day help?
Usually. A wider window lets more carriers on your lane fit your car in, which tends to mean an earlier truck and a better price, especially in the busy seasons.
What do you price by hand?
Motorcycles, RVs, boats, and moves to or from Hawaii and Alaska. Instant prices cover cars moving by road in the lower 48, and a coordinator prices everything else and emails you.
